Are bed canopies (mosqquito net blockers) safe for my babys crib?

I bought a bed canopy for my babys crib because I live in san diego and there's an alert of mosquitos with west nile virus.... The canopy is actually for a queen size bed because the crib ones go for over $100 .....is it okay put the bed canopy on my babys crib
