I had two high blood pressure reading that were high?

the doctor put me on blood pressure medicine, diovan 80mg 1 tab daily. a month later I went back to the doctor. All my bloodwork from my physical was excellent (always has been)and the ekg was excellent and my pressure dropped. I have no family history of high bp, actually only low bp. However, the bp sleeve was much tighter the first 2 times (when it was high) than the last time. Does that matter? I don't want to take pills if I don't have to.
